The "Social Innovation Design for Waste Pickers" workshop was held in November 2018. 25 participants were divided into two groups to improve the existing tools and community facilities for waste pickers- they are the elderly who assisted the community in recycling. After the workshop, the participants had generated several ideas, including how to modify the iron trolley and build a community friendly storage space for waste pickers.

In order to continue the innovative ideas of the workshop, a group of four participants, the spoke person of Waste Pickers platform Mr Tam Wing Hin, A waste pickers in Sheung Shui Ms Wong, and a community designer Mr Chan Ka Hin have started a four-month research and re-design process. The team is aimed to implement those innovative ideas and launch a more suitable iron trolley for assisting elder waste pickers in the community.

The newly designed trolley will be launched in June 2019. Stay tuned!
